Neptune Phinisi
Ridges, reefs and dragon trails
Updated 4 November 2026
A Komodo trekking and snorkelling trip on a private boat follows the 3D2N route: Padar, Komodo or Rinca and Kelor on foot, Sebayur, Manta Point and Taka Makassar by snorkel. Eight guests pay IDR 22,500,000 (≈ USD 1,380) each on Neptune's whole boat. Neptune is not a dive boat.
Ridges, reefs and dragon trails across three days
Three days alternate between land and water, and the plan is the same for every active party. Day 1 begins at the harbour with a 10:00 departure, then the snorkel at Sebayur, lunch, Manta Point and Taka Makassar, and dinner at anchor off Padar.
Day 2 is the long one. The Padar climb comes first, before breakfast, then Pink Beach or Long Beach, lunch, the ranger-led walk on Komodo or Rinca, a snack and the sunset at Kalong. Dinner follows at anchor.
Day 3 is lighter: breakfast, a walk on Kelor, a snorkel at Manjarite, a last stretch on the beach, lunch and the return to Labuan Bajo after noon. The captain reads the weather each morning and fixes the stops.
A fourth day adds Rinca as its own morning and puts the free beach dinner on the third night. A party that wants rest between the climbs should ask for the 4D3N sum.

These stops swap order with tide and wind: Manta Point ⇄ Taka Makassar.
Times are operating patterns, not a timetable. Pickup is the only promise we make by the clock.
Snorkelling from the boat: sites and gear
Four sites carry the snorkelling: Sebayur, Manta Point, Taka Makassar and Manjarite. Sebayur is the first stop after the 10:00 departure. Manta Point is the current-swept channel where manta rays are frequent, though not guaranteed. Taka Makassar is the sandbar and reef. Manjarite closes the route on day 3.
The boat carries snorkelling gear for the party. Snorkelling gear is supplied without a detailed list, so a guest with a strong preference brings their own. A life jacket is advised at the current sites, and the crew judges every entry and can cancel one.
Visibility is best from April to June and from September to November, and the sea is calmest in the dry months. Snorkelling inside the park carries no separate levy, since the entry ticket covers it.
Freediving by arrangement
Neptune is a snorkelling boat, with gear for the whole party, and open trips are snorkel only. Scuba divers should ask us before booking.
Freediving without tanks is possible on a private charter by arrangement. A freedive guide, dinghy support or a second visit to Manta Point is quoted before it is added, and a second visit depends on the sea and the park's rules.
A freediving group should tell us the number of divers, their level and the sites they want. We reply in writing with what can be arranged and what cannot, and the price comes with it.
Footwear, headwear and water for your own bag
Pack a short list. Shoes with grip are the item that matters, since Padar's steps have loose sections and the Komodo and Rinca paths are dry earth. A cap or hat, sunglasses, reef-safe sunscreen, a light long-sleeved shirt, swimwear and a refillable bottle complete it.
Carry 1.5 litres of water per person on a trek. The boat has fresh water aboard, but the islands have no shops. Bring your own medicines, because pharmacies in Labuan Bajo are limited and the islands have none.
A dry bag keeps the camera and the passport safe on the tender. Walks on Komodo, Rinca and Padar are ranger-led, and walking alone is not allowed. Tell us before the voyage if anyone in the party cannot manage the Padar climb. The rest go up and the boat waits.
Charter shares for an active group
Eight active guests on the 3D2N whole boat share IDR 180,000,000 (≈ USD 11,043) and each pays IDR 22,500,000 (≈ USD 1,380). The same eight on 4D3N pay IDR 28,750,000 (≈ USD 1,764) each, which buys the extra Rinca morning and the beach dinner.
Ten guests pay IDR 18,000,000 (≈ USD 1,104) each on 3D2N. Fourteen pay IDR 12,860,000 (≈ USD 789). The boat price is for the boat, so a party that fills the cabins pays less per head.
The park package, drinks and tips sit beside the boat price. A guide and documentation are quoted on request, and a freediving arrangement is quoted before it is added. Walkers who skip the Padar climb still share the boat price equally, since the price is for the boat and not for the head.

FAQ
Can I dive from Neptune, or is it snorkelling only?
Neptune is not a dive boat. Neptune carries snorkelling gear and no dive equipment, and open trips are snorkel only. A freediving group without tanks can charter privately by arrangement, with any freedive guide or dinghy support quoted before it is added.
How hard is the Padar climb, and can someone skip it?
Padar is the longest walk of the route, up steps with loose sections, on the morning of day 2. It is ranger-led and takes a rest every few minutes. Anyone can skip it and stay aboard while the rest go up. Tell us about knees or heart conditions before you book.
Are the currents strong at the snorkel stops?
Manta Point has a strong current, and the crew drifts snorkellers with it. A life jacket is advised, and the crew assesses each entry and can cancel it. Taka Makassar and Sebayur are gentler. Mantas are frequent there, though no month guarantees them.
