Ask your question

Questions asked before the first message

These questions come from the messages guests send before booking, and they arrive in much the same order: what the whole boat costs, which cabin has what, whether the boat sails when the weather turns, and how to pay from abroad.

If a subject has its own page, you get the short version here and the full one there. If your question is missing, the contact page puts you through to the team that writes these answers.

Answers in seven groups

The groups follow the order in which a booking gets decided.

  • Whole boat, one cabin or a day trip: seven answers on the shape of the booking.
  • Seven cabins, seven balconies: seven answers on beds, bathrooms and cabin fittings.
  • What a price includes: eight answers on the boat price, seats and the lines beside them.
  • Stops and days on the water: eight answers on routes, nights and the beach dinner.
  • Reaching the harbour: six answers on pickup, flights and entry.
  • Reserving, paying, changing: eight answers on dates, deposits and terms.
  • Safety, food, weather and children: eight answers on kit, kitchen and care.

Prices appear as 2026 figures alongside the date of the rate sheet. Anything not answered here, put to us on WhatsApp.

Reaching the harbour

What time and where is the pickup, can it be earlier than nine, and when do I get the driver's contact?

A driver collects you from your Labuan Bajo hotel or from Komodo Airport and takes you to the harbour for the 10:00 departure. On a private charter boarding can be set earlier or later around your flights. The driver's contact reaches you on WhatsApp before sailing, with the pickup time.

What time does the trip end, and which flight can I take home?

A 3D2N returns to Labuan Bajo after lunch on day three. Ask us before booking a flight home that day. A later flight gives you margin, and a night in a hotel costs less than a missed connection.

Can I start the day I land, and what if my flight is late?

Yes, if you land before the boat leaves: airport pickup takes you straight to the harbour. If you will arrive after departure, a small transfer boat can bring you to the first stop, which we arrange and quote before you agree, and you pay for. Send us your flight number when you book.

How do I get from Bali, Jakarta or Lombok to Labuan Bajo in time to board?

Fly into Labuan Bajo the day before you sail. Bali, Jakarta and Lombok all connect to Komodo Airport, which is 7 to 10 minutes by car from the harbour. Our guide to reaching Labuan Bajo walks through the flight choices.

Is the transfer between the airport, the hotel and the harbour included?

Yes, inside Labuan Bajo. Pickup from your hotel or Komodo Airport to the harbour, and the return after the voyage, are part of the voyage. Lombok pickups happen only at agreed meeting points.

Do we need a visa for Indonesia?

Check before booking flights, because entry rules and fees change. Most visitors need a visa on arrival, an e-visa or a visa issued in advance, and only the official immigration site is reliable. Our first-time guide lists what to check; we state no fee.

Reserving, paying, changing

Which days does the shared trip sail, and is my date open?

Neptune's 2026 calendar has 3D2N sailings on Mondays and Fridays, with dates confirmed live on WhatsApp before you pay. Rates and cabins are shown as of 4 November 2026.

How do we reserve, and what is the deposit?

Reserve on WhatsApp: we send a quote and an invoice, and the deposit is 50 percent. The balance falls due 30 days before sailing, or you can pay it in cash or by card machine on departure day, where the machine carries a 3 percent fee.

How can I pay from abroad, and can I use Alipay or WeChat Pay?

Cards go through a payment link at 3 percent, PayPal costs 7.2 percent, and the card machine in Labuan Bajo costs 3 percent. Wise, Revolut, QRIS and bank transfer also work, and the invoice names one bank account. Alipay is possible with the fee borne by the guest, WeChat Pay runs through our payment partner, and for UnionPay, ask us first.

Why can a boat be unavailable for a whole month?

Once a year every phinisi spends a month in dock for maintenance and makes no departures, and which month varies by boat. If yours is in dock on your dates, we offer a boat of the same class instead.

What are the cancellation and rescheduling rules?

Cancel 60 days or more ahead for a 50 percent refund, 30 to 59 days for 25 percent, and under 30 days for none. Rescheduling is free 30 days or more ahead and costs IDR 500,000 from 14 to 29 days. Within 14 days a change counts as a cancellation.

What happens if the boat is replaced or cannot sail?

If Neptune cannot sail, we offer a boat of equal or higher class on the same date at no extra charge. If you would rather not take it, you receive a full refund within 2 days.

Is Komodo Explorer a real company, and where are the reviews and the bank account?

Yes. The company is PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, NIB 1805260128363. Reviews are on the reviews page and are Komodo Explorer's own. You pay into a single company bank account, shown on your invoice.

Can we reserve dates in 2027, and what will they cost?

Yes, 2027 dates can be reserved. The 2027 rates are on request, and the 2026 list is the reference. If the 2027 card differs from it, we tell you before the final payment and you decide.

Safety, food, weather and children

Is it safe after weather warnings or earthquakes, and what if sailing is closed?

The captain and the harbour authority decide whether the boat sails; nothing departs regardless of the weather. After a warning, ask us on WhatsApp where things stand for your dates. If sailing is closed, we offer a replacement or the refund set out on the terms page.

What safety equipment does Neptune carry?

Neptune carries a liferaft for 50 people, two lifeboats, 40 life jackets, 10 ring buoys, 10 fire extinguishers, AIS, radar SART and flares. Navigation is Garmin and Furuno GPS with VHF radio and CCTV. Ask us for the equipment list of any boat before you book.

Is the trip safe, and do boats sink?

No voyage is free of risk. A boat needs a valid sailing permit and a seaworthiness certificate, we watch the BMKG weather and sea forecast daily, and no boat departs when conditions are unsafe. If it cannot sail, we offer the same or higher class on the same date, or a full refund.

Can the kitchen confirm the menu in advance for vegetarian, halal or allergy needs?

Three meals a day are served, plus afternoon coffee and a snack, and the menu is confirmed closer to your date. Tell us any vegetarian, halal or allergy needs in writing and we pass them to the kitchen. Nothing is certified, and we make no allergy-safe promise.

Is alcohol excluded from the fare, and can I still bring my own and keep it cold?

Alcohol is excluded from the fare, but you are welcome to bring your own; tell the crew when you board. Ask us before sailing and we confirm what can be kept cold.

What are the child prices, ages and bed setups?

Children aged 0 to 2 travel free with a parent or guardian, and from age 3 the full fare applies. Each cabin has one double bed, and only the three upper cabins take an extra bed. Tell us the children's ages and we plan the cabins before you book.

I am travelling solo: what do I pay, and who would I share with?

Seats are priced per person with two sharing a cabin, so a solo traveller's price and pairing are confirmed in writing before payment. Ask us for the figure for a solo guest.

Is Komodo Island closed in 2026?

Check the park notice, because closures change. Our answer is dated 4 November 2026, and we tell you before you pay if a stop on your route is closed. Ask us on WhatsApp for the current position.

Seven cabins, seven balconies

What separates a Mansard, the Junior Suite and a Deluxe cabin, and is any bathroom shared?

Mansard I, Mansard II and the Junior Suite are upstairs, each with a double bed and room for an extra bed sleeping one or two. The four Deluxe studios on the main deck have a double bed and no extra bed. Every cabin has its own bathroom, so none is shared.

Does every cabin have a balcony and its own bathroom?

Yes. All seven cabins have a private balcony and an en-suite bathroom with a hot shower.

Are the beds double or twin, and can separate beds be made up?

Each cabin has one double bed. The only separate beds are the extra beds in the upper cabins: Mansard I, Mansard II and the Junior Suite. Friends who need their own beds should ask us before booking, and we will confirm the arrangement in writing.

Is there hot water, air conditioning and a real window in my cabin?

Every cabin lists a hot shower and air conditioning, and each opens onto its own balcony through a door.

Is there internet aboard, or only phone signal near the islands?

We promise no connection at sea, including near Padar and in parts of the park. Do not count on video calls, and let your office know before you board.

Can you confirm what small extras are in my cabin?

Extras beyond the cabin specification are confirmed on request. Ask us before you sail and we confirm in writing what is in your cabin.

What shared spaces does Neptune have on deck and inside?

The shared spaces on the plan are the indoor lounge, the indoor dining room, the long outdoor table and the foredeck sunbeds, and snorkelling gear is supplied.

How much are the Komodo National Park fees with KEXI?

KEXI quotes the park as one package per guest: 3D2N: IDR 650,000 per foreign guest, IDR 350,000 per Indonesian guest; 4D3N: IDR 750,000 per foreign guest, IDR 350,000 per Indonesian guest. It bundles the government entrance ticket (IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, PP 36/2024) with the ranger fee and local levies, and is paid on top of the boat price unless your quote says it is included.

Stops and days on the water

How many days do you need in Komodo?

Three days is the planned route, reaching Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo or Rinca, Kalong and Kelor. Two days is the shortest overnight and has fewer stops. Four or five days give Rinca a morning of its own, allow more time at Manjarite and Kelor, and include the set-up dinner on the beach.

How much does a two-day, one-night Komodo trip cost?

A 2D1N voyage costs IDR 140,000,000 (≈ USD 8,589) for the whole of Neptune and up to 14 guests, which works out at IDR 23,330,000 (≈ USD 1,431) each for six or IDR 10,000,000 (≈ USD 613) each for fourteen. The route is an example, and you agree the sequence of stops with the captain.

Is the trip Labuan Bajo to Labuan Bajo, or one way to or from Lombok?

Labuan Bajo to Labuan Bajo. Every Neptune route starts and ends in the harbour and stays inside Komodo National Park. If Lombok is part of your plan, fly between Lombok and Labuan Bajo and we time the pickup around it.

Do you visit Komodo Island, Padar, Pink Beach and Manta Point, or only Rinca?

The 3D2N route calls at Komodo or Rinca, chosen with the captain. The 2D1N, 4D3N and 5D4N routes call at Komodo Island, and 4D3N and 5D4N add Rinca, which is a separate island. Padar, Pink Beach and Manta Point appear on every route from 2D1N to 5D4N, and the one-day sample route calls at Rinca.

Will one cruise show me manta rays and dragons, and why are whale sharks not on the route?

Mantas are frequent at Manta Point, though not guaranteed, and the captain can drop the stop with the sea. Whale sharks are not on Neptune's routes. Dragons live wild on Komodo and Rinca and are met on a ranger-led walk, again with no promise.

Where does the boat spend the night?

At anchor. The 3D2N plan names Padar for the first night and Kelor for the second, though the captain picks each anchorage with the weather. You sleep in your own cabin, after dinner served aboard.

What does the free beach dinner on 4D3N and 5D4N involve?

Charters of four days or more include a set-up dinner on the beach at no charge. We arrange the table for your party; there is no menu to list here. Weather and tide choose the beach, so the place is settled on the day.

Can a day charter be shortened, started earlier or changed?

Yes. A day charter can be a half day or a full day, with boarding and finish set around your flights. The route shown is a sample, and the order is agreed with the captain. A day charter takes up to thirty guests, and nobody sleeps aboard.

What a price includes

How much does it cost to charter Neptune for two, three, four or five days?

The boat is priced by length of stay for 1 to 14 guests, from IDR 140,000,000 (≈ USD 8,589) for 2D1N to IDR 280,000,000 (≈ USD 17,178) for 5D4N; the charter page has the full table. A day charter for up to thirty guests costs IDR 110,000,000 (≈ USD 6,748). The price belongs to the boat, so it stays the same when fewer people come.

What is the all-in price per person, with fuel, tax, park fee and card fee?

Fuel and taxes sit inside one rounded all-in boat figure, with no separate lines for them. Beside it come the park package, a guide and documentation on a charter, drinks, tips and card fees: 3 percent on a payment link and 7.2 percent on PayPal. You get all of it in a written quote first.

What does a cabin with its own bathroom cost per person on the 3D2N open trip?

On the shared 3D2N a seat costs IDR 14,800,000 (≈ USD 908) in Mansard I or II, IDR 12,800,000 (≈ USD 785) in the Junior Suite and IDR 10,800,000 (≈ USD 663) in a Deluxe cabin. Fares are per person with two sharing a cabin, all-in for 2026.

What exactly is included and what is not?

Included: pickup and drop-off between hotel or airport and harbour, three meals a day with afternoon coffee and a snack, snorkelling gear, linen and towels. A guide and photo documentation come with an open-trip seat; on a charter they are on request. The park package, flights, insurance, drinks and tips are extra, and we arrange any drone permit.

What does each of us pay if we share the whole boat between eight, twelve or fourteen?

On a 3D2N, the boat shared by eight guests costs IDR 22,500,000 (≈ USD 1,380) each, by twelve IDR 15,000,000 (≈ USD 920) and by fourteen IDR 12,860,000 (≈ USD 789). A shared-sailing seat starts at IDR 10,800,000 (≈ USD 663), but it comes with other guests and a set date, so treat the two as different ways to travel rather than competing prices.

What is not included in a private charter, from the guide to park fees and a drone?

On a charter, a guide and photo documentation are quoted on request, since the price leaves them out. The park package, flights, insurance, alcohol, tips and a drone permit arranged through us also sit outside the fare, and each is quoted in writing first.

What do guests fifteen to eighteen pay?

Guests 15 to 18 pay per person on top of the boat price: IDR 6,000,000 (≈ USD 368) on 3D2N, IDR 6,500,000 (≈ USD 399) on 4D3N and IDR 7,500,000 (≈ USD 460) on 5D4N. They sleep on extra beds in the upper cabins. The 2D1N sails with up to 14 guests.

Is the Komodo park fee included, and how much cash should I bring?

No fare ever includes it. For each trip type we quote one park package per guest, covering the national park ticket, the ranger and local levies. The park fees page shows the 3D2N and 4D3N rows, we quote other trips ourselves, and your quote explains how it is settled.

Can I pay the balance on the departure day?

Yes. The standard terms stay the same: a 50% deposit confirms the date and the balance is due 30 days before departure, but you may also pay the balance in Labuan Bajo on the departure day, in cash or by card on the EDC machine. Card payment link 3%, PayPal 7.2%, EDC 3%; your issuing bank may add its own charges.

Whole boat, one cabin or a day trip

What is the difference between chartering Neptune and taking one cabin seat?

A charter gives your party the whole boat for 2D1N to 5D4N, at one price for 1 to 14 guests, from IDR 140,000,000 (≈ USD 8,589) to IDR 280,000,000 (≈ USD 17,178). A seat is one cabin on the shared 3D2N, from IDR 10,800,000 (≈ USD 663) per person, with other guests aboard. A seat includes a guide and photo documentation; on a charter we quote them on request.

How many guests are aboard, and is it a small, quiet boat?

With seven double cabins, Neptune sleeps 14 guests on the base plan. Extra beds in the three upper cabins take an overnight party to 18 at most, and a day charter carries up to thirty guests who sleep ashore.

How many guests can sleep aboard, and how do the extra beds work?

Seven double cabins sleep 14. Mansard I, Mansard II and the Junior Suite each take an extra bed for one or two guests, bringing an overnight party to 18 at most. The four Deluxe studios on the main deck have no room for one, and a party above 18 overnight needs a second boat.

Can our party have the whole boat to itself, and who else is aboard?

Yes. The boat price covers the whole vessel, so on a private charter the only people aboard besides your party are Neptune's crew and our staff. On the shared 3D2N you buy a cabin rather than the boat, and other guests sail with you.

Can I dive from Neptune, or is it snorkelling only, and can a freediving group charter?

Neptune is a snorkelling boat, with snorkelling gear for every guest. A freediving group without tanks can charter privately by arrangement, with any freedive support quoted before it is added. Open trips are snorkel only.

Can we hold a corporate event on a charter?

Yes. The day charter fits a gathering of up to thirty guests, and a private charter sleeps 14 overnight. Send us the group size and the plan for the day and we reply with a quote.

Is there entertainment aboard for an evening?

Entertainment is not part of the plan. If your event needs something extra, ask us; anything we can arrange is quoted separately before it is added.
