Komodo National Park in 2026: fees, quota and boat rules

Updated 4 November 2026

Komodo National Park fees in 2026 are IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day under PP 36/2024, in force since 30 October 2024, and a daily quota of 1,000 visitors has applied since 1 April 2026. Tickets are bought online against passport numbers, and every voyage needs a sailing approval from the Labuan Bajo harbour master.

The ticket the government charges

The entrance tariff comes from Government Regulation 36 of 2024 on non-tax state revenue. It has applied in Komodo since 30 October 2024, as Antara Kupang reported when the park office briefed tour businesses on it. A foreign visitor pays IDR 250,000 per person per day, the same on every day of the week. Indonesian citizens pay IDR 50,000 on weekdays and IDR 75,000 on weekends and public holidays. A voyage pays for each day spent inside the park.

The ticket covers trekking, wildlife viewing and snorkelling; snorkelling no longer carries its own levy. Diving adds IDR 25,000 per diver per day. A page that still shows a weekday and weekend split for foreign visitors is out of date.

On 14 April 2026 the Forestry Minister said the foreign fee might be raised. Up to 4 November 2026 we have found no published amount and no start date.

How the park appears on a Neptune quote

We quote the park as one package per guest and trip type. For 3D2N it is IDR 650,000 for a foreign guest and IDR 350,000 for an Indonesian guest. The package bundles the government ticket with the ranger fee and local levies. It is therefore larger than the ticket, and it should never be read as the ticket price. For other voyage lengths the package is written into your quote. It is always kept apart from Neptune's charter price.

Rangers are compulsory on the walks at Komodo, Rinca and Padar. Their fee is charged per group of up to five rather than per guest, and it sits inside the package.

Tickets in your name, and the daily quota

Since 1 February 2025 park tickets have been bought online through SiORA, the park office's booking system, and paid without cash. The app followed on 7 July 2025. Every visitor is registered by name and passport or identity number, which is why we ask for passport details no later than seven days before departure. On 31 October 2025 Antara reported that some intermediaries had collected ticket money without passing it on. Ask for the e-ticket or QR code in your own name.

From 1 April 2026 the park has admitted at most 1,000 visitors a day across Padar, Rinca, Komodo and 23 dive sites, as Antara reported on 14 and 15 April 2026. On 25 April the ministry said the limit would be reviewed periodically. On 29 September 2026 CNN Indonesia reported that the year's quota had run out and that daily entry from September to December was set at 500. A date closes when its quota is full, so book early and check the limit for your dates before you pay.

Drones, photographs and park conduct

Personal photographs need no permit. A drone does: a SIMAKSI permit through SiORA and a fee of two million rupiah per drone per day. We arrange the permit on request. It does not guarantee footage. Commercial filming and photography carry separate permits and fees.

The rules for guests are plain. Walk with your ranger and keep whatever distance the ranger sets from a dragon. Do not feed, chase or touch animals, stand on reef, or take sand, shells or marine life away. Pack out your rubbish. Boats do not drop anchor on dive sites and use a mooring buoy where one exists, according to the park leaflet dated 17 January 2018.

The harbour master, the weather and the sailing approval

Whether a boat leaves Labuan Bajo is decided by the harbour master's office, KSOP Kelas III Labuan Bajo. It issues a sailing approval, the Surat Persetujuan Berlayar, for each voyage, based on the BMKG weather forecast and the boat's technical fitness. Its safety guideline of 14 October 2024 asks for a life jacket for every passenger and a safety briefing before departure. Since 23 July 2024, passengers at the main piers board with e-boarding barcodes tied to the manifest.

In 2026 the office has kept boats in harbour several times. Sailings were closed in stages from 29 December 2025 to 4 February 2026 (CNN Indonesia, 3 February). Komodo and Padar were closed to tourist boats until 25 February (detikBali, 22 February), again for three days in late July (CNN Indonesia, 24 July), and from 6 to 8 August (detikBali, 6 August).

Neptune carries safety kit that can be counted: a liferaft for 50 people, two lifeboats, 40 life jackets, 10 ring buoys, 10 fire extinguishers, AIS and a radar SART. If a voyage cannot sail because of a breakdown or a port or park order, we supply a phinisi of the same or higher class on the same date at no extra cost, or refund in full within 2 days.

FAQ

Is Komodo Island closed in 2026?

No. The park is open with a daily visitor quota, and CNN Indonesia reported a limit of 500 a day from September to December 2026. The harbour master can still stop sailings on a given day when BMKG forecasts high waves.

How much is the Komodo National Park fee for foreigners?

IDR 250,000 per person per day under PP 36/2024, in force since 30 October 2024. On a Neptune quote the 3D2N park package, which also covers rangers and local levies, is IDR 650,000 per foreign guest.

Are park fees included in Neptune's price?

No. The park package is always a separate line on the quote, apart from the charter or shared-trip price.

Who decides whether boats can sail?

KSOP Kelas III Labuan Bajo, the harbour master's office. It issues the sailing approval for each voyage on the BMKG forecast and the boat's fitness.

Is a drone allowed over Komodo National Park?

Only with a permit: a SIMAKSI permit through SiORA and two million rupiah per drone per day. We arrange it on request; it does not guarantee footage.
