Fly in the day before: how to reach the 10:00 harbour from Bali, Jakarta or Lombok

Getting to Labuan Bajo from Bali, Jakarta or Lombok for a private charter means flying in the day before the 10:00 boarding. Bali is about 1 h 15 by air, Jakarta about 3 h. Neptune's 3D2N returns after lunch on day 3, so book a flight home later that day.
Labuan Bajo is the start line: flights set the day before
Everything starts at one airport. Komodo Airport (LBJ) is the only one in Labuan Bajo, it has been international since April 2024, and it sits about 2 km from town, a drive of about 10 minutes. The harbour is a short ride beyond the airport road.
Our advice is the same for every guest: arrive in Labuan Bajo the day before you sail. A boarding at 10:00 sits too early to rely on the morning flight, and a cancelled or delayed flight on sailing day costs you the first stops. A night in a hotel near the harbour removes the risk.

From Bali: one short flight east
Bali is the short way east. The flight from Denpasar to Labuan Bajo takes about 1 h 10 to 1 h 20, and several airlines fly it. Book the flight for the day before sailing and you arrive with an evening free.

A morning departure from Bali and a mid-day landing in Labuan Bajo leaves the afternoon for the hotel, the town and a first look at the harbour. It also leaves a day in hand if the flight slips.
From Jakarta and Lombok: working back from a 10:00 boarding
From Jakarta the flight takes about 2 h 30 to 3 h. The same rule holds: fly in the day before. Work back from the boarding. The boat leaves at 10:00, the driver collects you before that, and a breakfast fits in between. The only sensible landing is the afternoon before.
From Lombok, a small-aircraft link serves Labuan Bajo a few days a week. Check the airline for the current days before you plan around it. Flights from other cities connect through Bali or Jakarta.
Lombok is an airport for you, not a leg for the boat. Neptune's routes start and end in Labuan Bajo. No one-way voyage to or from Lombok is published, and we do not arrange one.
Landing on the day you sail: what a late flight changes
Yes, if the flight lands before the boat leaves. Airport pickup takes you to the harbour for the 10:00 departure. If you will arrive after 10:00, a small transfer boat can take you to the first stop. It is arranged for you, paid by the guest and quoted before it is added. Tell us your flight number when you book.
A private charter can be set around your flight, so the first question is whether the whole party can board later, not whether one guest can catch up. If the charter moves its boarding, the day's stops change, and the captain decides what fits.
A delayed flight means the port and small-boat transfer are yours to pay. The cheapest fix remains the night before.
Pickup, meeting point and the driver's contact
Pickup in Labuan Bajo is included. Your driver meets you at arrivals or at the hotel, drives to the harbour for the 10:00 departure and brings you back after the voyage. We confirm the pier with your booking.
The driver's contact reaches you on WhatsApp before you sail, so you know the name and the number before you step out of arrivals. A private charter can board earlier or later than 10:00, around your flights, and the pickup moves with it.
Pickups from Lombok are possible only at agreed meeting points. For any pickup outside Labuan Bajo, we confirm the point and the time in writing.
Section note. The airport is about 2 km from town, so a driver needs about 10 minutes, not an hour. The margin to protect is the flight, not the road.
Flying out: the safe hour after the 3D2N return
On day 3 the boat returns to Labuan Bajo after lunch. No clock time is printed for the arrival, and the weather and the stops decide it. Do not book a flight home on that afternoon without asking us first.
Our advice, and it is advice, not a rule, is a flight after 14:00 on the last day, or better a flight the next morning. A night in town after the voyage costs less than a missed flight.
The route below is the 3D2N, the one with a printed return. On a longer voyage the return comes on day 4 or 5, and the same rule applies to the last afternoon.
